Nomad 120: Rachel Mann – A Trans-Woman Meets a Queer God

Priest, poet and feminist theologian, Rachel Mann is a trans-woman. From an early age she had a profound sense that her body didn’t reflect her gender. After a long, frustrating and painful journey she emerged into the woman she is today. We ask Rachel to look back over this transition and reflect on what it means to be human, what place gender has in our identity, and what she’s learnt from seeing the word through male and female eyes. Tune into the podcast for a fascinating and challenging conversation.

           Saltash Aesthetics
    working in partnership with

                CTSAR Plus.

'Working in partnership' with positive, genuine people and their organisations has always been my idea of the right way forward.

Recently I have been approached by Rebecca Pranauskas of Saltash Aesthetics who asked if we would be happy to add details of her company's service to our website. Becky said "Previously, having worked in Wolverhampton with a laser company, we had a good link with the local transgender community and supported many going through gender reassignment with their hair removal requirements."

As CTSAR Plus is a non - funded resource and relies solely on donations to carry on its operation, we put a proposal to Becky to try to generate some revenue for both our organisations. I am extremely pleased to report that as a result of this proposal, CTSAR Plus has already secured a generous donation from Saltash Aesthetics AND has been promised further donations if the CTSAR Plus organisation website generates more interest and future business for Saltash Aesthetics.

We sincerely hope CTSAR Plus can be helpful in linking people to Saltash Aesthetics, where they will be treated by a qualified and experienced practitioner. Also, it will be wonderful for CTSAR Plus and ultimately our service users to be able to benefit from what Becky says next "I will absolutely make sure that further donations are made to support the organisation and as a 'thank you' for sharing our details on your website."

So, please support Saltash Aesthetics who will help CTSAR Plus to carry on supporting YOU!

Thank you Saltash
Aesthetics for your generous donation - it will really help CTSAR Plus to continue to provide a professional and trusted service to our Trans/Non Binary community here in the south west.

Here are the lyrics:
"This Woman's Work" - Kate Bush

Pray God you can cope.
I stand outside this woman's work,
This woman's world.
Ooh, it's hard on the man,
Now his part is over.
Now starts the craft of the father.

I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.

I should be crying, but I just can't let it show.
I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking

Of all the things I should've said,
That I never said.
All the things we should've done,
That we never did.
All the things I should've given,
But I didn't.

Oh, darling, make it go,
Make it go away.

Give me these moments back.
Give them back to me.
Give me that little kiss.
Give me your hand.

(I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.)

I should be crying, but I just can't let it show.
I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking

Of all the things we should've said,
That were never said.
All the things we should've done,
That we never did.
All the things that you needed from me.
All the things that you wanted for me.
All the things that I should've given,
But I didn't.

Oh, darling, make it go away.
Just make it go away now.

                                       WATCH:

This Kid Rapping About Being Transgender Is                                Our New Hero
The Huffington Post by James Michael 11/08/2014

It looks like we just found our new pint-size hero.

Alex hasn't even left elementary school but he already has a firm grasp on his identity and what it means to be transgender. He wrote a rap about coming out to his mother and shared it on stage at Camp Aranu’tiq, a camp for transgender and gender-variant youth.

According to its website, Camp Aranu'tiq focuses on, "building confidence, resilience, and community for transgender and gender-variant youth and their families through camp experiences."

We're absolutely in love with this kid. Check out the video above to see the rap or read the lyrics below.

So I had a little story I'd like to share / about something I went through that might seem pretty weird / Please try and imagine if this was you / or you might have something that you can relate it to / So I was just a little kid about 7 or 8 / and I had something to say that could no longer wait / So I went to my mom that hot day in July / with a hope in my heart and a tear in my eye / Basically I said this girl is your son / and I’ve always felt this way and it hasn’t been fun / We sat there together for a little while / I thought she was sad but then I saw her smile / She told me I was brave and that she was so proud / that I came to her so she could help me sort things out. My family and friends / were also on board / and the support that I got / just had me floored / And from that day on / I started my path / and we worked together / and even faced some wrath / Together we can weather / whatever this life brings / and we’ll continue to love / and I’ll continue to sing / And I know that there are other kids / who feel like I do / and I truly understand / what they are going through / Thank you all for sitting here / and taking the time / to let me tell my message / in the form of a rhyme / Please treat everyone / the way you expect / we all deserve freedom, love and respect.
